Chinese writing influenced Japan.
I'm Chinese.
idk
information obtained from article
Because the Japanese Islands where populated by the mainland Chinese.
Japanese came later as the article said.
I think that chinese is older and because of the county's size an its diffirent versions of chinese. But mostly the journey of how the charachters have changed trough time.
Really!???!?
Because, China came before Japan and influenced their writing.
cause i'm a genius
Because Japan borrowed Chinese characters.
As Japanese believe themselves descendant from Ghingas Kahn, he having been a Mongol/Chinese I conjectured that China was the oldest culture.
because you said so.
It was created first, then Japanese was formed later from the Chinese form.
because the paragraph said so.
According to the first paragraph, the Japanese did not have a writing system until the 4th century
chinese was writen before Japanese. Japanese is basically the shortened and simple version of chinese.
I understand that China was populated long before Japan and that China helped civilize the people who migrated to Japan in ancient times
I just read it in another article :)
its right
Chinese has a longer history in the language and Civilization ( over 5000 years).
I speak some Japanese and have learned about the history of the orthography.
Because it was mentioned that Japanese didnt have a writing sysem for centuries

Some how it is obvious. Historically, linguistically and socially chinese language influenced japanese language. Japanese is using a lot of ideograms coming from chinese, in a simplified manner.
Even for a novice it is quite easy to remark the differences between both character sets (visually, the chinese has a complex representation, instead japanese is not so elaborated), therefore to determine probabilistically which one is older.
Chinese culture has been around longer than Japanese culture
Japanese adopted Chinese writing and mutated much to claim as its own form, known as Hiragana.
I know this already through web search
