I selected this answer because chimpanzees are strictly vegetarians. They are found in the African rain forest which they are restricted to the fruits that are available in their habitat. We, humans, are carnivores and herbivores. Humans have assess to a diverse diet since we live anywhere. We eat meat because of our evolutionary past, our brains got larger and needed more energy (Our brain consume a lot of calories). Bananas are part of our diet but do not provide all our taking needs.

There are far more humans in the world than chimps. Also, bananas originate in South-East Asia, far from the habitat of the African-dwelling chimps. Chimps would not have had access to bananas until humans introduced them to the fruit.
