You said it was slightly more poisonous.
I am from the South and they will chase you even if you run.
It is a very aggressive snake and is known to move towards its intruders.
I read about it as child in ny
One of my kids when they were little were stuck at by a cottonmouth. I had to kill it, so my child wouldn't be bit.
Slightly more vein outs than the water moccasin.
Moccasins like to stay in the water and Copperheads/Cottonmouths are more aggressive and hunt farther inland and not as much in the water.
That is what the article was saying.
I would say that it is due to the amount of bites from copper heads. 37% of all snake bites in the US are from copperheads, while both have cytotoxic venom and the moccasins venom is actually stronger they tend to dry bite while the copperhead pumps you full of venom
Because of the shape of the head.
Because of the shape of its head.
Common snake in S Louisiana.
Heard enough stories about them.
Because they have a larger amount arand the us
I grew up with these snakes, and have been in the same pond as Mossicans... They never were a threat to me, however the Cotton Mouth has always been very aggressive... Just my experience..
read it somewhere...
Cottonmouth bites are more common. In NC I never hear of a water moccasin or cottonmouth bite.
WATER MOCCASIN is a general term referring to water snakes in general, most of which are non venomous, Cottonmouth is an official common name referencing The venomous pit vipers Genus Agkistrodon piscivorus.
More aggressive
Cotton mouths are extremely dangerous
I read the article
cottonmout is more agressive
Cause if the name
they are more aggressive for one and their venom packs a meaner bite
the cottonmouth is more aggressive than the water moccasin, and is not afraid to "stand it's ground!"
no
They are more aggressive. They are territorial.
it is related to the copperhead. I was fishing on the banks of the river and this snake came at me and my four year old very aggressively
they can kill more quickly cause their venom is more poisionous
It's responsible for about 12 deaths each year!
Same venomous snake
more poison
just read it
the vvenomous thay carry
a cotton mouth avermous snake
i read it on the computer
The reason I say this is that the cotton month blends with the leaves better then the water moccasin so you could be right up on it before you see it. Alot of the time when you see a water moccain it is in the water and you can see it water tail.
when they are in the woods or in the tall grasses of a field its indetectable
beats the **** outta me
because they are.
