Stackoverflow often goes out of their way to be rude and critical, rather than helpful. Experts-Exchange has a better attitude.

The Experts Exchange business model ensures that the answers I need are answered by capable people, meeting the specific needs of the person asking the question. Even though it costs a monthly fee, I know that I'm paying for a quality resource that is sure to be composed of people that really want to help each other get quality tech assistance.

I believe that the points system actually encourages a superior quality of answers in the competition to be awarded the points on offer. Unless you live in a communist society, then competition and fee for service is part of how business is done; is it not? If I need to physically take my computer in to have a problem solved, does the business resolve my problem 'in the spirit of it'? I dont think so, he has rent, wages, family, bills to pay. So he is going to charge me a truckload more than a bunch of 'points'. There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. It keeps you sharp and drives you to continually better yourself. And beside, you wouldnt enjoy playing all those computer games would you?
