It is the true church and is based on gospel teachings.

Mormons know that their family values will be respected and encouraged, and that they will never be asked to contribute more than the traditional 10% tythe that is common to all Christian faiths. Scientologists will be asked for thousands of dollars for all sorts of weird "services" performed upon their personalities, which are deemed to be defective. While I do not subscribe to either (I am an atheist), I had a mostly happy marriage to a Mormon (our differences were not influenced by religion) and found it impossible to live with a Scientologist, who later left his church to become my partner. We have been happily married for 12 years, and he practices a mainstream Christian faith.

Scientologists are for weak people who need constant reassurance that need to believe they are greater than most people.

Most Scientologists that are famous did not have a higher education. Also it starts off with a personality tests that shows you what is wrong with you and then sells you on improvement. That is exactly what crooked mechanics do. You have to be real stupid to fall for the aliens in the volcano internal suppression BS.

Mormons believe that we are here in earth as a preparatory period for life in the hereafter with our heavenly parents. Here we learn to become more godlike as we keep his commandments. At baptism we receive by the laying on of hands the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a great communicator between God and man. We have much additional scripture in the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price, along with the Bible. All of these factors plus many more gives us a much broader background on where we came from, why we are here, and where we hope to go in the hereafter. The church does not take away the good in other religions. We just add to it.

May Christ be with you.

I've never heard of a scientologist who earned a PhD and managed to become a university professor, but there are many many Mormons who have done so and participate in serious academic scholarship: mormonscholarstestify.org

I believe Mormons generally have smarter members. Even though both churches have strict doctrines and guidelines, the Mormon church encourages each member to "find out for themselves" the truth of what is being taught. Most engage in a thorough investigation not just of the church, but of themselves and their lives. I know that members of the Church of Scientology are probably very smart, but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints delves into theology, science, history, family issues, finance, leadership, morality, preparedness, marketing (missionaries), language & culture worldwide, and many many more aspects of learning that members actively take part in. Most members who follow the encouragement of the church hierarchy and the books of scripture that the church accepts, actively participate in all of this by choice after they have "found out for themselves" that this is the course they want to pursue in their lives.

I don't think any group is smart in this case when it comes to religion. But in terms of a social group to join it seems scientology has more profound members who have already established themselves as the best at their craft. This group is looking to solve a personal deficit type problem whereas mormons are looking to solve the problem of being lonely and misguided. Both groups of people are desperate for change but are looking for it in the wrong places. It will only cost them money something that only has meaning on earth.
