Difference between Bangalore and Hyderabad

India has become one of the most renowned IT hubs in the world. Two of India’s major cities, Hyderabad and Bangalore, have made a name for themselves based largely on their IT companies’ presence. Today, India has emerged as one of the most promising IT export countries. It exports software services are distinct from making a mark in the realm of call centers. Hyderabad is home to Infosys, the brainchild of Narayan Murthy whereas both Banglore and Hyderabad host Accenture.

Bangalore
Hyderabad

Population

Bangalore is the third most populated city in India and is the capital of Karnataka. It had a population of 5.8 million per the 2001 census.

Hyderabad is also quite densely populated but its population is around 4 million. Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh and is the most populated city of Andhra Pradesh.

Entertainment

Hyderabad is home to the Telugu film industry whereas Bangalore boasts the Kannada film industry. The Telugu film industry is also called Tollywood and comes second after the largest Mumbai film industry known as Bollywood. Telugu and Kannada are regionally spoken languages in India. Bangalore also is the most rapidly growing metropolis in India whereas Hyderabad only acquires this status of a metropolis together with its nearby suburb of Secunderabad. In fact, both the cities constitute Hyderabad.

Technology

Bangalore has a higher concentration of IT companies in its midst. For this reason it is called the Silicon Valley of India. Hyderabad on the other hand has not been able to establish itself as a big hub for IT industries in comparison to Bangalore, the biggest IT exporter in India.

Bangalore was established in 1024 BC when it was annexed by Cholas. But modern Bangalore came into origin in 1537. The city of Hyderabad is relatively younger as it was founded in 1592.

Culture

Hyderabad has a rich cultural legacy of its own. It’s known as the city of Nizams. Bangalore does not have any such legacy.

Literacy rates

Bangalore has higher literacy rates as compared to Hyderabad. It has the second highest literacy rate in India after the city of Mumbai.

Summary

  • Languages spoken

-The main languages spoken in Hyderabad are Urdu and Telugu. In Bangalore, the main languages are Kannada and English.
  • Architecture

-Hyderabad also offers tourists a lot of scope to explore Indian history due to its rich architectural diversity. It is home to many architectural buildings like Charminar, Golconda Fort, Mecca Masjid and Qutab Shahi Tombs. Bangalore lacks such architectural richness, so the main historic building attraction you will find here while paying visit as a tourist is Bangalore Palace which was constructed in 1887 by the rulers of Mysore.
  • Cuisines

-Bangalore also does not have cuisines as interesting and delicious as Hyderabad. The tourists can savor dishes like Mughal and Persian in Hyderabad. Bangalore offers tourists Hindu, western and Chinese cuisines.

hyderabad is very bigger than the bangalore.it has the 80 lks population(total greater hyd).but bangalore is not greater.it has only 57 lks population.and one major deffect of bangalore is it has very few subarban areas.so the developement of bangalore will be stopped after few years.but greater hyd having the nuch more metro area.according to this hyderabad is too greatest and largest city than bangalore.

having more people does not make Hyderabad better.

Hyderabad is better so it has that many people residing in it.

I wonder where you got the comparison data like 80L vs 57L and Bengaluru has few suburbs!!. Check the area of Greater Hyderabad and Bruhat (Greater) Bengaluru from authentic sources, you will understand which is greater. Just the area of the city, metro, more fashionable airport, or Hyderabadi Biryani are not countable to decide a city's value. It must be the Quality of Life of people living in, ease of access, Public Transport, Quality Education, Cost of living, Degree of Corruption in Govt offices in a city should be deiding factor. Also these factors should be gauzed for the different age levels like children, adults and senior citizens.

Talking about Degree of Corruption - Bangalore has been declared as the most corrupt state in India (Reference:TOI).Try getting your vehicle migrated to Bangalore once you move in or indulge in Property Registration and you would understand what i mean.

I have moved to Bangalore twice in the last 6 Years, finally moved out and settled in Hyderabad. On a personal note, i experienced more rowdiness and arrogant behavior in Bangalore whereas people in Hyderabad were much better in terms of their behavior towards people from other states.

yes even i experienced, hyderabad is better than bangalore

wat does ur hyd have_:slums of course

hello akileshakil n co. let me basically tell u all tht HYd airport is built by our very own Indian company(GMR) n he is from AP ,proud to say tht such an airport from Indian co, Hyderabad international airport has been named amongst the world's top five in the annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) passenger survey along with the ones at Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. I agree the fact tht Bng airport bagged award for best airport 2k11 i dono how ?? n considering the fact tht Bng airport was built by siemens(germany).now coming to the main issue BNG n HYD both have pro's and con's as both being Indian cities n i hve been to both the cities.who said BNG weather is good its not the same BNG,tht weather is gone guys it is evenly hot here compared to HYD its ll'bit less thts it. n coming to transport HYD is best bcz govt of AP widens the ROAD if we suffer traffic where as in BNG we observe it to be made one way which is irritating ..n ya BNG is called silicon valley n is justified,HYD also got few electronics&VLSI companies(top elite ones) hiring only highly qualified of-course.

Bangalore is the best. Weather is awesome. No need to know regional language. English works everywhere.

English works all over the place in India. I am a US citizen of Indian origin, and may I say that I have spoken English to pretty much random strangers all over the country and I have NEVER had a problem. Most Indians have a basic knowledge of English. Therefore, you're point is invalid.

However, why do we fight? We're all Indians!

  • Guest
  • Arjun wrote on April 2012

Yes, but the number of people who know English in Bangalore, is more than the number of people who know it in Hyderabad. If you compare the ratios, Bangalore would be slightly ahead.

PLUS, you simply cannot deny how cosmopolitan Bangalore is, compared to Hyderabad. Some people say that Hyderabad is best when it comes to diversity. That is one HUGE joke :P

Bangalore is India's second most diverse city, after Mumbai, and Bangalore is followed by Delhi.

leave about china and pak man.........they all come during war....

this is regional............. once i was in bangalore and got stuck in traffic and believe me , my nose was burning coz the pollution was so high,,,not to forget the bad roads

This is definitely regional, let me quote by example.

We were at WonderLa, the amusement park a few weeks back and enjoying the Poolside Waves. I was talking to my wife (In Hindi) and a 14 Year old kid kindda bumped into me swept by the wave.

This almost went unnoticed until i heard him saying 'Cant you see, you bloody North Indian' !!!

I was immediately aggravated and though of returning the favor but senses kicked in and i realized that this was a well educated boy (not a kid) making this remark and retaliating to his behavior was not going to fix his sentiment and let him pass

Wonder who taught this to a 14 Year old.... Parents/School/Friends

Any comments?

seriously people i have been in hyd for 20+years now. Its not good anymore ....People have no sense of living in peace ...its always communal tension in hyd...and now the telangana thing and the strike by almost every union makes hyd worst to love ...probably lower than tier 2 cities of india.. Bangalore on the other hand has shown that smoothness of improvement even now . BLR arguably is much better than hyd. I have lived in both the cities and both have their good and bad. Bangalore once upon a time was known for his greenery, education, fashion, technology, coolness of people, respect for elders, helping nature even for strangers, Tons of site seeing places near to Bangalore on the way to Mysore etc. Now its crowded and polluted. Hyderabad once upon a time was known for Architectural Heritage, Good natured People, Very laidback in terms of Life, Not so much corruptness in the system, Very friendly people, Great Roads, Good Food, Less Pollution. Now its crowded and Polluted. Just to conclude, City on its own both Bangalore and Hyderabad are equally good. However, People have spoilt both of them.

BANGALORE IS CROWDED BECAUSE OF THE GOLTIS AND THE KONGAS.

I have been to bangalore and i appreciate it for its nice weather and also some cool spots to hang out. also in terms of education it is very good. but the city itself has become very ugly. much dirtier than hyderabad for sure

i would choose hyderabad for living anyday. it is much neater and less crowded.

and telugu people are in bangalore because telugu ppl are much more go-getter type than dull kannadigas.

in bangalore there are so many andhra hotels and many locals also understand telugu. thats because telugus have a attractive culture and food and best sounding language.

and kannadas are too dull and unmotivated and also lazy. so they dont go anywhere, they just sit in bangalore and say namma bangalore is great

  • Guest
  • Prashanth wrote on December 2011

Haha.. yes, right. Bangalore has everything no doubt. but it lacks enthusiasm.

Bangalore's climate is good. so what? people will still sit at home during weekends. In hyd, its not like that. they have a lot of enthu. they get up and do something. they socialize more.

If you consider Cost of living, in Bangalore, you have to pay 10 months advance for renting a house, where as in hyd, it is hardly 2 months and some owners don't take advance also.

Hyderabad people are definitely more friendly compared to Bangalore.

Well Bangalore is certainly the best place to live.....When i showed some pics of the volvo and mercedes buses in Bang to my hyd frnd.... he was jus bewildered and asked me whether these buses run in India.... lo0ok at the poverty striken people on hyd roads.....yuk!!!... The quality of education, livin, hang out places everythin is so fine..... If hyd would have been better that bang then the Metro project would have been offered to hyd instead of bang first....

and secondly my friend, lets not talk about poverty bcos in India it is everywhere and in every city.

but let me tell u 1 thing the rich of bangalore are no match for hyd rich people and the houses in Hyd are the best in india. if u want to see please visit jubilee hills/ banjara hills area. nowhere in india is like that

ur hyd friend must be a village idiot. AP transport and buses are much better than Bangalore. APSRTC is better.

what do u mean by metro rail project "awarded to bangalore"? is it some sort of prize LOLl. hyd metrol rail has finally taken off but it was delayed because of telangana issue, YSR demise.

i agree one point that bangalore has better hang out places. this is only plus point

other than bangalore is a polluted, extremely dirty with worst roads.

for living hyd is better bcos even cost of living is cheaper.

U just shut up. Bangalore is the best place in india and your hyderabad LOL!!, dirty slums, broken roads. i felt like it was ****.Bangalore on the other hand is the best IT hub in india and will be NO.1 in the world soon.

very nice discussion. I was a silent listener but want to share my opinion. Happenings in Hyderabad are much better than any other metros in India. The projects have the glow, cost of living is cheaper, NYT rated top 19th place in the world to visit this year. Hyderabad is the only city picked by New York times in India.

to be frank i am in bangalore and now its march 2011 just for records its real hot and i cant take it came to know that hyd is also very hot but the pollution and traffic is so much that i have to travel 2 hours in the morning to office and 2 hours in the evening this is sick. i am not here for only job i want a life too. when i visited Hyd i saw that it is very hot but the traffic is ok i could manage. Hyderabad when compared to Bangalore might be a better place for some and might not be for some others. But it does not mean that these cities are not good. Each of them hold its own value when it comes to cost of Living, food, tourits spots, Literacy rate, growth and development, people's behaviour and many other things. If people from Bangalore come and live in Hyderabad for few years, I am sure they would appreciate Hyderabad's culture and same is the case when Hyderabadis go to Bangalore.
