Difference between Sea World and Universal Studios
Thinking of taking your kids somewhere fun and exciting? Both Sea World and Universal offer tons of attractions that your little ones–and even the older kids–will surely enjoy! And if you have ever wondered which one will give you the better value for your money, this comparison article should tell you a few things!
Profile
Sea World is comprised of various marine mammal and animal theme parks under the ownership of Sea World Parks and Entertainment. Among the parks’ many animal attractions are orca, sea lions, and dolphins, all of which perform various tricks to an admiring crowd. Today, Sea World parks can be found in Florida, California, and Texas.
Universal Parks and Resorts is a theme park under the ownership of NBC Universal. The company currently manages different Universal Studios resorts located in several countries around the world.
Main Attractions
Aside from the animal attractions, Sea World also offers a range of rides, including roller coasters and splashdown rides such as Kraken, Manta Steel Eel, The Great White, and Journey to Atlantis. The parks also host a number of non-animal attractions such as the Budweiser Clydesdales, owing to its part ownership by Busch Entertainment Corp., which is owned by beer brewer Anheuser-Busch.
Universal only has two parks under its name, but they certainly deliver on the entertainment front. For instance, the park offers two huge roller coasters and one drop tower in the Islands of Adventure. Seuss Landing offers four rides and a play area specifically intended for young children. There are also rides intended for kids 5 years old and above, such as the heart stopping JAWS ride.
Main Characters
The main attractions at Sea World would have to be the orcas, many of which are contained in huge 7-million-gallon tank. These tanks are known as Shamu Stadium, in honor of the first orca that was brought to Sea World, San Diego. Sea World currently has 20 orcas in three parks.
The Universal Studios parks have a number of characters in costume the regularly roam the grounds, many of which are recognizable figures from cinema, cartoons and literature. Take a walk around the park and you are likely to come across true-to-life versions of Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and many others. Also seen are characters from Shrek, the Nickelodeon television shows, and the Simpsons. Other performers that star in their own shows but don’t necessarily roam the parks are Rocky and Bullwinkle, characters from The Land Before Time series, and the Chipmunk characters.
