if it is bacterial an antibiotic can cure the problem, if viral it will run its course in a week or so. Asthma is a more chronic and reoccuring condition with factors that can exacerbate the condition

Have bronchitis now. Never diagnosed with Asthma. I am a RN also.
Asthma is often chrinic, and I myslef have asthma, and even after numerous steroid therapys and inhaler usage I still have it, although I have not had a flare up in many months.
If treated early, the duration is shorter. Where as with asthma, you may have a reoccurance of an attack sooner due to triggers.
