Both have attracted millions of gamers from all over the world, and it is their immense popularity that is one of the few similarities of both games. Grand Theft Auto or GTA is a series of video games created by Dave Jones initially for release in the United Kingdom. Subsequent versions of the game were developed by Dan and Sam Houser, and Zachary Clarke. The game was first developed under the auspices of Rockstar North and was published by Rockstar Games. The plots of the games in the series–and indeed its name–are derived from “grand theft auto”, which is a term that refers to the theft of a motor vehicle.
Call Of Duty is a video game of the first-person variety, although there are versions that are third-person shooters, the series was created by Ben Chichoski, and early version were intended for use on a PC. Versions of Call Of Duty for consoles and handheld devices were later released as well, in addition to several spin-off versions. Most of the games in the series are set during World War II, except for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which are set in the present, and Call of Duty: Black Ops which is set during the Cold War.

Players could either go on missions in order to follow an overall story, or they could take part in various side activities. Call Of Duty for its part is a series of video games based on the Quake III engine. The first version of the game was released in October 2003 by developers Infinity Ward. This initial version of the game as well as subsequent releases was published by Activision. Call Of Duty is a war simulation game that includes elements of infantry action during World War II, and modern warfare in later releases.
Market Performance
Grand Theft Auto has been a huge success in the gaming market since 2001, both in the critical sense and in terms of market performance. Most of the games in the series have received very favorable marks in numerous game reviews, and more than 70 million copies of some type of Grand Theft Auto game have been sold all over the world as of March 2008.
Call Of Duty is no slouch either, having amassed combined sales of more than 55 million copies all over the world by November 2009, which amounts to total sales of more than $3 billion.
