Difference between BMW and Audi
In the world of high-end cars, few names conjure up the glamour and the sheer mouth watering appeal of BMW and Audi. The two companies have been mostly neck and neck in the battle for automotive supremacy, but things are becoming even more heated up with the release of the BMW 335i in 2009 and the Audi S4 in 2010. Which car deserves your dollar? Let's see!
Power
In terms of sheer speed, the BMW 335i takes the slow lane compared to the Audi S4, although it certainly delivers performance that is respectable enough for mere mortals. With a 0-60-mph time of just over 5.3 seconds, the BMW certainly has speed to spare. This model puts out 300 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque, which isn't bad at all for a car weighing in at 3,607 pounds. The Audi is has an extra 377 pounds on board, but it still delivers superior performance thanks to its powerful V6 engine that puts out 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The Audi S4 is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds flat, with a quarter-mile time of 13.2-seconds running at a blazing fast 106.1 mph.
Accessories And Amenities
Both the BMW and the Audi offer a wealth of gadgets and accessories which definitely adds to their appeal. For instance, the Audi comes with a state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen audio system, as well as keyless ignition, voice-activated telephone, and even a navigation system that looks more like a video game than a functional utility. The S4 also comes with a sunroof, xenon headlights, Bluetooth and even iPod connectivity. While the BMW doesn't have as many toys on-board, it still manages to look pretty impressive on the inside, with a finely detailed construction and high-quality materials all throughput. The interior is also laid out simply but elegantly in line with the BMW tradition. However, the Audi does have the edge in terms of space and legroom.
Cost
Make no mistake about it, these cars aren't “budget” or “low-end” by any means. For instance, the BMW 335i starts at $34,000, but adding on the 300-hp twin-turbo engine bumps up the price tag to just over $40,000. Throw in the sport, Premium and Cold Weather package, and you are looking at more than $49,000 right out the gate. As for one thing the Audi S4, the base model alone already costs almost $46,000. Of course, it has to be said that this already includes a host of features that you would have to pay extra for in other models. Nevertheless, a new Audi S4 with all the fixins would likely set you back around $59,000.
