As mentioned above, carnivals have people in costumes & there are rides. FAIRS DO NOT HAVE RIDES (also mentioned above). Kids don't want to watch people sell their apple pies, etc. The people who answered fair must not have read the description.

The kids love the rides, being able to have more hands on experiences whilst in the carnival many times they don't get a chance to do much except to gawk and point at people who are dressed up in their elaborate costums and such. Plus, they love going from stands to stands to see if they could find their special 'Fair Treasure' to keep until the next fair happens.
