In April 1988 while being stationed at Subic Bay Naval Base Philippines I got very sick with Dengue Fever. And to my dismay in June of 1988 I caught Double Malaria (Vivix and Falciparum). As I recall I had 3 days of going to the clinic and getting 24 hours bed rest. On the 3rd day I went to the hospital and spent 6-7 days there for both diseases'. I was mean and grouchy with the Dengue. But with the Malaria I was crying for my Mama. Both diseases' were similar. I recorded a higher fever with the Malaria, but maybe the Dengue felt worse. Before all of this. I heard of Malaria but not so much of Dengue if at all. So to answer your question. Due to the world news one hears of Malaria and not as much so for Dengue. I'm thinking that Malaria is more prevalent. But either one Dengue or Malaria I wouldn't wish them on anyone.
