Nicotine breaks the blood brain barrier in a few seconds and reachs in the blood very quickly. Nicotine leaves its deposits in lungs and in blood vessels and capliries. It causes Heart Attack, Lugs Cancer and many other problems. The great Psychologist, intellectual and father of Psychoanalysis was addicted to cigar smoking which caused cancer of the jaw in his mouth. He was surgicaly operated nearly 30 times but could not survive because he did not quit regular cigar smoking. Smoker die younger. Nicotine sticks inside the very sensitive blood capliries. So capliries become narrow form inside, so the heart has to work more than the normal condition.

Whereas Caffeine work slowly. It arrives in the blood in 20 to 30 minutes and break the blood brain barrier after that. If Caffeine used continously and regularly it may become an addiction. It also causes problems in blood artries and capliries. But the risk factor in nicotine is much higher than caffeine. Riz_marx@yahoo.com

I choose caffeine because "neither" was not an option. I believe the method of ingestion is the key and I do not associate nicotine with burning a tobacco product nor caffeine with burning it. Compound verse compound in moderation is not a health concern.

Caffeine can be found in much higher and common doses than nicotine. Simply, a cigarette is obvious (when you are smoking nicotine and tobacco) but with caffeine, things from tea and soda to coffee and energy drinks can be easily be taken in in higher doses or quantities.
