You can find out anything about a business on Yelp—hours, bathroom facilities, what forms of pay they take, and parking options. You can ask for quotes before you even get there, and the Yelp Elite status is one way to know who the legitimate reviewers are (there are others: see a negative review, pull up the person’s profile. If there are no other reviews or they’re all negative, report them to Yelp). The check-ins being in the same app makes it easier, too.

I'm not interested in socializing, just the reviews of restaurants I'm considering.
I find it frustrating that Foursquare has split into two apps.
They integrate wit Siri and I don't like blue social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Skype).
I feel yelp is better to get right to the point of what I am trying to find out which is useally how good a place is weather it be a restaurant or a hotel I found foursquare as more of a check in geo tagging app... and yelp more of a review's tool.
Because they have over 31 million registered subscribers (as compared to the 1. "something" on Foursquare, the sheer number of reviews on restaurants/bars/cafe's/etc is significantly higher. Also, Yelp allows users upwards of 500 characters to write their reviews, whereas Foursquasre only allot 150 characters. I'm not too sure about others, but I rather enjoy EXPLAINING (is somewhat detail, atleast), why it is that I like/dislike a certain place.

I am less interested in social networking and the Facebook connection that Foursquare seems to promote.
I would prefer to see the reviews for a business, either positive or negative so that I could make an informed decision about using or visiting that business. If the reviews were overwhelmingly negative then that would definitely influence my buying decision.

I like that Yelp has comprehensive reviews for a place, as well as more detailed information (price, adress,store hours, etc)
I need an App that tells me interesting place near me, I don't need a tool to tell the world where I am!
