better seasons. way better and direct roadways, altough the socal area is congested its not like new york is traffic free or any other major city. go surfing ( with real waves) and snowboard the same day. dry heat in cali will always be better than the muggy summers of the east coast. better varity of hunting on the north west coast. east coast has florida but only the south half is really that great. also, people on the east act like its the best place ever...because they havent left here. i assure you its not. but whatever it has been and will always be personal prefrence

No major shock to ones body due to weather change no need for severe weather accomidations to your vehicle if you are a outdoors type you really have little need for entertainment and shopping at least not as often as you age you find less need for more than a onestoryhome

I like less people. I believe it is easier to get away from people out here. My sister is on the east coast and besides the weather the people are much more sociable and friendly. I believe it is the winters keeping people indoors and good communication skills become important.

Climate is better on the West Coast, and there is much to do outside. Portland Oregon is a small city with a big city transportation system. People are more environmentally conscious and care about urban planning and sustainability.But, due to the warmer winters, there is a huge homeless problem that needs to be solved.

The general mentality of the inhabitants of the area should also have been accounted for, since West-Coasters tend to have a much more down-to-Earth, easy-going & relaxed outlook on life, as opposed to the rush-rush, let's-go-crazy & stressful one far too many East-Coasters have.
The overall vibe emitted by the people in the West is one to not be forgotten by native Easterners, like myself - who naturally votes West Coast, unequivocally.

The west coast has much better weather, and plenty of free outdoor excellent things to do year round... Beaches, real mountains & the desert, and all within minutes or an hour or two in you're in Socal. Very nice thoughtful folks who actually like discussing a multitude of topics and who are not thin-skinned babies (like the east coasters) when someone disagrees with them. Consequently, one feels happier & healthier with all the sun, and fresh air, fresh fruits & veges all year AND friendly, and nice people. Conversely, the east coast is full of rude snobs who mistakenly think they know everything & would rather run over you with their car than have to extend any energy on a deep conversation. In a nutshell, they are jerks and, dye to the disgusting humidity, there are approximately 3 days out of each year of genuinely nice weather. Go there if you hate sunlight for 7 months of the year, enjoy hurricanes, and annual power outages from them & the rotten winter blizzards. Final thought... Once you travel west of Texas the east starts to show it's colors with filthy, and dirty hotels & motels, dumpy towns, shopping centers that look unkempt & depressed, terrible roads, telephone poles strung everywhere &, in general, just a chaotic, and dirty mess! Oh, and and did I mention how rude the people are?
The west coast is really so much better! Sunny, dry heat, and warm people beautiful, and clean & neat. I agree with the comment about how dirty (filthy, and really) the east coast is! Not to mention the rotten weather which causes SAD (& widespread vitamin d deficiency) & also the Lyme disease which is Rampant on east coast!, My little girl & I have never recovered from this dreadful disease from this vile area! Plus "everyone" smokes out here & you can't walk out of a store or restaurant without inhaling lungs full of someone's disgusting habit... So, I the east coast is a real slobs-ville, inhabited by rude, but pompous, uptight jerks!

Laid back and friendly people, and awesome weather year round in CA & no hurricanes!!! Healthier lifestyle and enjoyment of outdoors. West coast is also more innovative & has that wild west independent spirit. East coast is full of rude & arrogant types and is generally unfriendly as far as deep friendships or relationships. East coast also has big time snob appeal over where someone went to high school or college!!! Wish I were kidding but they are extremely provincial & don't know how to move on from their teens or early 20s & become adventurous or outgoing in any way. So, the west coast wins hand!

Weather, beautiful scenery, music, arts, tech, friendly people, myriad outdoor and indoor activities, great beer, fantastic pubs, wineries galore, sunny beaches, major pioneering events/routes and plenty of historical attractions. Agriculture, farms, wildlife refuges. Best airports, with convenient routes - including easy access to Hawaii, Mexico. Can drive the entire west coast virtually straight shot in less than 24 hours. Take a week or so, it's an amazing road trip.

The west coast is far more scenic and can be enjoyed any time of the year. Oregon has protected most of its coast with state parks. There are few private beaches (aside from Camp Pendleton) on the west coast. The waves are much bigger and suitable for surfing. In summary, it's more beautiful and more fun.
By the way, America has a gulf coast, too.

More space, better weather more progressive and more beautiful ( Tho there are some beautiful places on the east coast) on the West Coast - there is a massive amount of the coast that isn’t developed - you can see it as it was before Europeans came to North America. On the East Coast is way over developed on the shore
