GoToMyPC works from anywhere. RDP requires you to be on the LAN. LogMeIn is clunky

User friendly, no firewall issues, only downside is pricing, but worth it for use at work and abroad.

Primarily for the added layer of security over opening router ports directly to my PC. Logmein over gotomypc because it has a feature that notifies an interactive user on the host machine to allow or deny an incoming connection request. I prefer this over forcibly taking control and interrupting a user at the console.

It's free vs. pay. It uses 256-bit AES vs. 128-bit AES (although 128-bit is safe, why not use higher bit strength if available to be "safer"?). It's free.
