Becoming a celebrity is not the easiest thing to do. Most of the time, people become famous because of their ability to do things or get attention for doing things that normal individuals don't do - such as acting, singing, and dancing. Other times, people become famous due to their appearance. Beauty queens, hunks and pretty faces are most likely to be chosen to become celebrities by powerful behind the scenes star makers. Popularity can also be gained through controversy or exploitation of bizarre happenings in society. This could include breaking news about medicine and science which involves a particular person. Both Octomom and Kate Gosselin are celebrities famous for being mothers of many children in addition to other reasons. Octomom has 14 children, Kate has 8. All the same, they are both in show business where flashing lights and cheering crowds do not rest.

Nadya Suleman, more popularly known in the world as Octomom, was born in Fullerton, California on July 11, 1975. After attending high school, she went to college in California State University - Fullerton (CSUF), where she took a degree in child and adolescent development. She received a bachelor's degree in 2006. After her graduation, she applied for a master's degree in counseling, but discontinued the course in 2008. Kate Gosselin, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania studied at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center and graduated as a registered nurse. On December 18, 2009, the divorce of the couple was finalized and Kate has been granted the custody of their children and the ownership of their home.  

Multiple Births

In January 2009, Nadya Suleman gave birth to eight children at the same time, these children are called octuplets. After giving birth, she gained international recognition and was then called Octomom. The Suleman octuplets were made popular for being the the second full set of octuplets in the United States, the first being the Chukwu octuplets in 1998.  It was discovered that the mother had undergone in vitro fertilization to conceive her octuplets and the six other children that came before them. The question is "why?".

Kate Gosselin was initially diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and found it difficult to get pregnant. However, after some treatments for fertility, she conceived and gave birth to sextuplets on the 4th of May, 2003. The babies had to be placed on ventilators as their birth was a few weeks earlier than the expected date. Apart from the six, she also had twins with her husband.

Celebrity Life

In February 2009, Suleman declined Vivid Entertainment's offer for her to star in a pornographic movie which ranged in the one million dollar level. In the following month of the same year, she appeared on the Dr. Phil show together with Gloria Allred but was then criticized by the latter for her poor performance. Kate Gosselin starred together with her family in the reality TV show John & Kate Plus 8. This show documents their personal lives as a family which lasted for 2 years until the couple's divorce and John's decision to stop filming.
