Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan is very famous Indian film actor. He gained popularity in 1970’s and was given the title of “angry young man”. He was born October 11, 1942. As an actor he has won a number of major awards that include thirteen Film Fare awards and four National Film awards. He is a successful TV presenter, playback singer and film producer. He was also elected as member of the Parliament. He is one of the most prominent figures in the Indian film industry. Abhishek Bachchan, son of both Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan is also an actor. He is married to the famous actress Aishwarya Rai who also formerly earned the title of Miss World. After giving some initial flops, Abhishek Bachchan emerged as a successful actor with films like Dhoom, Sarkar and many more.
Early life
Amitabh’s father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well known Hindi poet. His mother Teji Bachchan was from a Sikh family. He was originally named ‘Inquillab’. His original surname is Shrivastava but his father adopted Bachchan as a Pen name in his poems. He earned his BSc. Degree from Karori Mal College in Delhi University. In his childhood, Abhishek Bachchan suffered from the eye condition, dyslexia. He studied in number of schools and later went to Switzerland as a student to the Aiglon College. Later he went to the US where he attended Boston University but returned to India without completing his education and chose instead to pursue his acting career.
Career
AmitabhBachchan made hisdebut in 1969 in the film “Saat Hindustani” (Seven Indians) which was directed by Khwaja Ahmed Abbas for which he won National Film Award for best newcomer. With the release of “Anand” in 1971, Amitabh Bachchan began a long chain of hit films in the Indian Film Industry. Along with acting, Amitabh Bachchan also worked as a playback singer, TV presenter in the very famous “Kaun Banega Carorepati”, and was elected as a member of Parliament. Abhishek Bachchan made his debut in J.P. Dutta’s Refugee which was not a success. His performance in “mai prem ki diwana hun” received much appreciation after which he acted in a number of successful films which proved to audiences that he has talent as an actor. He also works for AB Corp. Limited that was founded by his father and was initially named ABCL. With “Paa” he entered a new level and became one of those actors who also work as producers.
Personal Life
Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, a Bengali girl who is also an actor. They worked together in various films before they marriage. They have two children Abhishek and Shweta. Abhishek Bachchan was engaged to Karishma Kapoor which was later called off in 2003 and was titles the “most eligible bachelor” by the Times of India. Abhishek later married former Miss World and famous Indian film actress, Aishwarya Rai, in 2007.
