Plyometrics works the cardiovascular system in an anaerobic manner, which also creates many of the benefits of longer cardio sessions in a much shorter duration.
Most recent studies suggest that Plyometric training actually gives a person far greater benefits than longer cardio. The exception would be for long distance athletes. Despite this, endurance athletes should still incorporate Plyometrics into their routine to further enhance their fitness levels.
