Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated in 1815 and defeated in Russia in 1812. I picked Alexander the Great because he conquered more parts of the world than Napolean and succeeded in his aims.

It's very difficult but I think Westerners have a much easier time collectively celebrating Alexander The Great and the tradition his rule established, as it seems to be in the 21st century a much larger tree of origin for many subjects than Bonaparte's one, which is modern and still quite young.
