Tide has a good reputation of cleaning, getting out tough stains, and smelling good towards your laundry, I've always used it in my washer and always will.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Gain doesn’t have a free and gentle soap tide does!
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I've been using Gain 72 pods (Moonlight Breeze). I decided to try Tide 72 pods (Spring Meadow) and my clothes smell so much better. Not sure why that is? As for dirt or stains, usually our clothes are fairly clean. So it is hard for me to tell which works better.

Thicker and not as strong of a smell. Little goes a long way and gets the cloths stain free every time.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Tide sport is the best smelling and the scent stays with clothes longer than any other detergent I've tried. It is great on tough smelling clothes from gyms or teenage boys!

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

Tide smells more masculine whereas gain is more gender neutral.
  • Anonymous . June 2021
Gain products smell less like chemical. I also like that you can get fireworks, softener, and dryer sheets in the same scent, which is impossible with tide. I don’t like the hodge podge of scents you get with the using tide if you need softener or dryer sheets.
  • Anonymous . October 2020
Smells closer to floral scents found in nature. Tide has nice scents, but I feel it is more at an industrial strength against my nose
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Gain probably but I like tide as well

I selected this option because I love the smell of Gain although I only use the fabric softener and use Tide for the wash. I thought they were manufactured by the same company and Gain is generally a lot less expensive than Tide. I will try Gain as soon as I am done with there use container of Tide packets I just bought.

My husband and I have been using strictly Tide the entire almost 16 years we've been together. It's also what my parents used (and still use) and it's also what my grandparents always used; however, while we were at Target the other day, we smelled some of the Gain detergents and they smell SO much better than Tide! We ended up buying the Apple Mango Tango detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets and we love them! Our clothes and linens smell amazing now! Don't get me wrong, Tide does an excellent job and I'm not saying that we'll never use Tide again, but we just love how much better the Gain smells and we find it to do equally as good of a job as Tide does at getting our clothes, sheets, and towels clean.

I've been trying the Gain Flings and the Tide Pods for the first time ever and Tide Pods don't even come close in having fresh smelling clothes as Gain does.

Gain wins by a landslide. I even recently found out that my local vet's office uses the Gain Flings and you know how much laundry they do.

I have three teenagers participating in sports and school activities. The only detergent that gets the “work” smell out is Gain. I have tried Tide many years, but its Gain we now stick to. The kids do get people coming up to them and smelling them like the commercials.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Fresh natural smell!
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Gain gets stains and harsh smells out of any laundry i put in the washer. Clothes come out smelling Fresh and Spotless, and sheets, blankets pillows etc, they smell so good and clean. I use Gain fireworks with my Gain Detergent and gain dryer sheets. That is like a triple threat :).

Gain, the reason I choose gain is because I did the two week smell test and gain did live up to the two week promise of a fresh smell it actually lasted longer than two weeks. I can honesty say the clothes in the dresser drawer smelt fresh after three weeks.
