All of the major universities and research centers are mostly based in blue states and blue areas of red states. Also blue states are more likely than red states to view the funding of education as a higher priority and less likely to teach creation in science classes.
Because I 've already seen the statistics for education

Besides every stat saying Democratic states are more educated than Republican, have you ever listened to a Republican speak? It's painful.

Blue states tend to invest in education and job skills more than red states and as a result produced higher numbers of both skilled and education citizens.
Democrates spend more money on education and arts.
Yale, MIT, CIT, Seven Sisters, Ivy, etc., vs Old Miss, LSU, Alabama, etc.
Better economy attracts higher educated workers
Higher taxes equal better schools.
The put more towards education and have better education results.
