Weeds tend to be native to bees habitat. Bees and weeds have evolved in a symbiotic relationship allowing each species to receive maximum benefit. Cultivars may not be as easily utilized by a habitat's fauna.

Though weeds and flowers both have "flowers" its the pollen that attracts bees because the to reproduce sexually and some flowers have evolved to use bee's as a transport. Continually the flower petals have certain pigments used to attract bees.
