The Golden Globes is leading up to the biggest of all the awards which is the academy awards.The Oscars are more professional.
Because The Oscars solely focus on Films, they are far more critical and respected...their choices are more intelligent. The Academy Awards are judged by the academy of film art/science. The Golden Globes are judged by a bunch of media people, which makes it more a less polished "popularity contest". History bears this out. The Oscars are "classier".

Because the Academy Awards focus on one thing. Most award shows have one area that they award. The Emmy's are for television, the Tony's are for plays, and the Oscars are for Films. I am not sure why the Golden Globes are even around. We have the Emmy's to award television shows. and the Oscars, even though they **** things up a lot, to honor achievments in Cinema. The Academy Awards are better by a long shot.

Golden Globe winners are never remembered
Oscars have been out longer and people are more tuned to Oscars over Golden Globes. When trailers for future movies come out, the narrator never says "Golden Globe winner/nominee", they say "Academy Award Winner/Nominee" (Ex. Anthony Hopkins, Kate Winslett). I think Golden Globes should leave the films strictly for Oscars and focus more on television films.

The people behind the televisions and film process are left out in the Golden Globes. Emmy and Academy Awards acknowledge the true work and visions of the visual arts. It's not just about the actors and too much focus on acting is in the Golden Globes. That's wggat the SAG is for.
