I selected Gen X because we had actual toys to play with. Gen Y started the electronics/video game era and once that happened toys kind of went to the wayside.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
gen x arent vrey reliant on technology
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I am Generation X and I certainly grew up with more toys than the later Generations, who are more digitally inclined. Their toys are maybe more electronic.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because we played with toys not technology.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Less tech or time online. Had to "make" their fun.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
More toys and less technology - no ipad to play with only dolls, skipping ropes etc.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because they're more established in their careers & can afford more toys (and more expensive toys).
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
They have more money.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
We had more toys and went outside to play---these later generations stopped playing with toys early and hard to get them away from the computer/video games.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Children during Gen X had more non-electronic toys, we had to use our imagination and creativity whereas Gen Y the toys do it all and the batteries are included.

Not as much technology. Kids had toys instead and collected them. They also tended to play outside more, which also included the use and play with toys, sports, bikes, etc..
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Generation Y does have toys, just tablets. Gen X had the most toys and some of the best toys. Millennia's do not know the joy of driving a Big Wheel or just going outside for that matter.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
everything is on gadgets now
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
we tend to be more a saver for the things we want to obtain versus the y generation that just buy everything on credit
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

The toys made in generation x has been totally born, designed and animated in brain prior to drawing board and hence most of the toys have been creative and explained the principles of basic science.

The toys generated in generation y born, frequently altered and animated and posited in tinsel world through CGI(computer graphics imagery).

We had real toys and went outside and played with them, We had real interaction with the world and each other. What we didn't have is a bunch of electronic ****. They claim "interactive" but it is so impersonal the humanity is practically non-existent.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
In my opinion, toys as I define them were replaced by technology (Sega, Playstation, etc...); televised entertainment substituted for toys (i.e.; VHS/DVDs; PSPs, etc...).
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Our parents had to buy us multiple toys, not one computer.

Generation X did more playing and their successful baby boomer parents would have been better able to afford them. Generation Y kids do a lot more on computers and cell phones and the slacker generation Xers weren't as able to afford things for their Y kids.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Generation Y is more technical.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

This generation had the fascination and the imagination for technology. This was a gift this generation had without majoring in math and science. They believed in themselves and the people that surrounded them. Their spirit was truly connected to the universe of opportunity.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Generation X had more time and jobs to buy the toys. Also the job market situation was not as bad during the early times of Gen X compared to Gen Y. Both Gen X and Y will be less material prosperous as the Baby Boomers and the Depression era grandparents. Gen X and Y will have to depend on their potential inheritance to get by.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The economy was a bit better then.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Generation X has had more years to develop their personal wealth than Generation Y has and are able to buy the toys that they want with greater frequency. What their toys are may differ considerably than those of Generation Y (such as pool tables vs tablets), but the quantity of money that they are able to spend on their toys and the amount of time they have been buying things is greater.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
As older people, they have more income to buy toys.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I believe generation x has the most toys, because the children of this particular generation did not have laptops, I pods, or the internet as a medium of entertainment. Therefore, they would have more toys to play with that did not involve apps you could download, instead objects to actually play in real life.

Age of exess. Not only more, but more expensive designer most important, having the latest and greatest. Most likely to have many "i" products. Do not value items, but number and brand of items. Gen X more likely to be the "droid". Looks for the technology value, expects higher results and considers function over form.

Less technology growing up. More toys needed to entertain children.

The retireees should be highly taxed today for the advantages they had inj the past.

Responsible Gen X parents, who have enough money to buy their children all the latest and greatest, do... and coddle and protect them from any unpleasantness. If the Gen Y child/young adult cries, they get a new toy. Plus, while Gen X joylessly moved out as soon as the law would allow, Gen Y live with their parents until nearly 30, whether they have jobs or not, so they have no financial responsibilities and more money to buy more toys.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because they're a spoiled group of kids. Generation X came from parents that were more strict and reserved in their parenting methods. When these gen Xs grew up, they compensated for what they didnt get in their youth by lavishing it all upon their children.. thus, the gen Ys were pampered.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Use of technology means hands on which becomes more a way of life.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Guilt & overcompensation, competition between divorced parents to be the favorite & to purchase the affection of their children. Greater amounts of marketing directed towards the children combined with the recession of the recessions of the70s/80s & into the periods of economic prosperity experienced in the 90s. The Pokemon mentality of acquisition. Gotta catch'em all, programmed into them as they spent more time watching television than with family.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The advent of technology has greatly increased the availability of products that we, as Gen Xer's, merely dreamed about. GPS, Digital Music, Mobile phones, have all given this generation instant access to a megaton of information....anywhere, anytime. We had to wait for the newspaper or crack open an encyclopedia that rapidly aged with every second to get information.

Based on the information presented in this forum, it is the most conclusive evidence that Generation Y has the most technological toys. Myself, being of Generation X, did experience the usage of technology in my young adult years, stayed abreast of the changes, and I consider myself proficient. However, now in my early forties with increasing technological changes, I am able to feel my way through but not as efficient as Generation Y'ers. For example, I don't always upgrade my cell/smart phones when the newest versions of technology come into the market.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Expensive technology is considered a toy... Game systems attachments even the games bring prestige to the child.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
They care about toys..we don't.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Generation Y has been introduced to more advanced technology; evolving cellular phones and its features, variety of computer brands and laptops, handheld devices (kindle, iPod, iPad, Nintendo ds, etc). In the past ten years, more sales through electronic purchases were made in history. 5-10 years ago, it would be hard to spot a child 8-14 years of age with a handheld device. Now it's more natural to have a two year old navigating through games on an iPod, iPad.

Because Generation Y has had since birth the constant evolution of technology during the time of internet, MP3, iPods, Smartphones, Wii, and XBox as their toys. Generation X has only come into this type of technoloy in the adult life.

Side note - I feel that generation X and Y should work together at redefinining the world that was itself redefined by the baby boomers.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
because gen Y use more technologies and the internet than gen X, so they could invented many toys in their generation.
