Traditions are with culture and the how the individuals interacted, whereas society seems more as a whole how the individuals work together.

If culture is defined by a group of people with the same beliefs, diet, ideals, learned behaviors, then in ancient times that was what was acceptable. In society in those days, you were either apart of a particular culture or you were ostrasized for not being apart of it.
