I love both but South Park definitely crosses more lines than Family Guy does and they are generally better at storylines. I think both shows share many similarities but also many differences at the same time, but I mainly love both for their ability to make fun of anyone or anything, as well as their main characters. It’s unfortunate that there is beef between Family Guy and South Park, but I think both will go down in history as some of the most iconic cartoon series of all time, although I do believe South Park will be more positively remembered given the reputation of both shows. With that being said, I understand why people dislike or even hate Family Guy, but I still don’t think it deserves all the **** it gets. Family Guy still has many funny jokes/moments and great musical numbers
How to describe the differences? I can't! Anything I say against one is contradicted by the other. Personally, I find Family Guy to be for undereducated folk; high school humor at best where just a **** is hilarious. The humor seems stupid, flippant and snarky.
South Park is certainly dark humor but reminds me sooo much of my childhood, and I'm a 65 year old female! There is a genuine exchange among family and friends. The boys trying to educate and "raise" their parents, while also protecting the parents, is so right-on; the profuse swearing among the boys, their outrageous adventures, and the moral story after each episode, is just too great. Just one 1/2 hour has me laughing and thinking. I was hooked after watching my first episode.
I couldn't make it through even one complete episode of Family Guy.
Centers around kids which I think appeals to Teenagers a bit more.

Sps more creative. More variety of episodes. Impossible for someone who has never watched the show in depth to immediately begin loving it due to a long shift of character roles and parts. As the creators and viewers have expressed a love for the show roles needed to be reevaluated to sustain a long life as a cartoon show intended to shock and humor Americans. As they adapted characters began grow more depth and become more dynamic. Ms chocksondick was ditched for mr garrison. Bus driver change. Kenny began to die less as a shock and more for future episodes plot line(mysterious, sp movie in ****,psp episode). For the most part Kenny does not die enough in any season past 5 for me to feel that it's being exhausted. The creators somewhat use it as a self reflection of where they came from to look back and laugh. Each character has different roles depending on the season. Recommended. Episode-"cancelled". Season 7 episode 1. Try the losing edge on season 9. And then try imagination land three part series. Basically If you like the episode cancelled you prefer old school southpark as this episode is a remake of the very first one and usually these episodes have more long plot with moral at end. If you like the baseball episode on 9 you like sp in it's prime (in some sense). Mid career plenty of good jokes. Great set or characters and randy really started developing his best traits in seasons 6-9. If you like imagination land you prefer eitther slightly more random humor. Family guy is hilarious and I find myself stumbling upon it flipping through the channels as I'm drunk and bored. Sp I pay 799 to **** **** hulu just to watch each episode as I please and best believe I watched em a lot. I've seen every sp episode at least 5 times with my favs being well over 20. I've seen every fam guy and own most of the first 5 seasons (good fam guy). Sps worlds better. Fam guy fans are just a bunch of hippies and are living up to their reps on message boards. ****

Family Guy relies on spot gags that have nothing to do with the actual plot of the show, while the South Park jokes and laughs rely on the actual story and situation
Because, every episode is consecutively funny were as it is very rare to find a hilarious episode in family guy.
No competiton. South Park has good plots. Family Guy is just RANDOM and NOT FUNNY.

Its a legitimate satire of all aspects of society (the world). You have to be a bit informed to find the jokes funnny.

South Park actually follows a storyline, and they are more laid back in attacking modern issues and problems, but Family Guy just goes completely AWOL with random jokes and one-liners.

I always hate how the question is "which one is funnier." They are both extremely funny, but humor isn't the only determinant of which is the better show, which is South Park by a landslide because of superior writing.
