He can use magic without the need of a wand. This wandless magic is easier to conceal because there isn't a chance of someone seeing a wand that wizards like Harry have to use.

Let's face it: both are great magicians in their own way. However, I would rather choose Merlin. After all, he was born with magic, which comes from the old religion. So a very powerful magic. His magic is instinctive and he didn't have to learn it
(However, he got a spell book from Gaius so that he could have more control over the magic and learn more about it. After all, his mother forbade him from practicing magic.) He also had to keep his magic very often hidden, because in Camelot Magic was forbidden because of Uther Pendragon. So he's wiser and more careful with his magic. He also lives "in the shadow", doesn't show his full magical potential.
Harry's magic, on the other hand, is... I would say a little weaker. Because the magic comes from the wands. So flow through the wands. Even though harry is smart, he is very careless about magic.
He must learn over years to use magic.
I would also say that - even though Harry Potter was the child who survived the attack whose-name-should-not-be-mmentioned - he is somewhat arrogant (in my opinion) since he has been a title since Birth that EVERYONE knows!
Merlin's title only knew the magical beings. People did NOT know of his title or fate.
It's also kind of nicer for me to watch a series with several seasons instead of several movies that last for several hours.
If Harry Potter were a series, it would be easier to compare. However, it would not change my mind.

obviously Merlin would win in the Harry Potter books they mention Merlin's name with respect and they also know him to be the greatest wizard of all time(it says that on pottermore).

Welp as Merlin has been deem the most Powerful Wizard/Warlock of all of time, it seems that his skills in magic and being the last dragon lord would beat the teenage harry potter.

I have seen and read all harry potter books, and seen four series of merlin and in conclusion: Merlin. Why? I can see more opportunities of Merlin defeating Harry Potter than vice versa, for example Merlin could just look at him and Harry would just fly back and get knocked out, the fact that Harry Potter needs a wand is a big disadvantage, Merlin could easily disarm or even break Harry's wand at will. However, Harry Potter is the master of the Hallows and with the invisibility cloak I'm sure that would make it a lot more interesting. Finally compare their pets, Harry no longer control snakes, his owl Hedwig has died and Dobby the house-elf, whereas Merlin is now a dragonlord and controls the Great Dragon. But I'd love to see Excalibur vs Sword of Gryffindor!!!
Obviously it would be Merlin. I noticed that Harry tends to use his wand a lot, while Merlin just has to look at something till his eyes flash gold. To him, magic was just as natural as breathing. I often wonder what would happen if Harry was robbed of his wand...would his magic be weaker?
Also, Harry has a whole lot of support from his friends and teachers and family while Merlin only has Gaius and sometimes, the Great Dragon. But Merlin has made it so far with such limited support! Therefore, I think Merlin would win given the circumstances.
Also, Merlin is much more cunning and clever due to the fact that he needs to keep his magic hidden in Camelot. ;)
kinda obvious. Merlin is like all knowing. It never shows that Harry Potter was supossed to be powerful, all he did was to be protected as a kid and survived and bam he was famous. I mean come one try to put Albus dumbledore against Merlin and Albus might have a little chanse but Merlin is still the winner.
