Difference between Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar
Ajay Devgan, originally named Vishal Veeru Devgan, was born April 2, 1969. Ajay Devgan is Punjabi and was a student at the Silver Beach High School and Mithibai College.
Akshay Kumar, was born September 9, 1967 and was originally named Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. Akshay Kumar was born to a Punjabi family and since his early days, he excelled in many activities. He studied at the Don Bosco School and then Guru Nanak College. Both actors started their acting careers in the Bollywood industry in 1991.
Acting Career
Akshay Kumar made his film debut in Saugandh (1991) followed by the film Khiladi (1992). All of his initial films were great successes. Ajay Devgan’s debut film was with Phool aur Kaante (1991). He won quite a few awards for his debut and also for later films. Akshay Kumar has had a successful career in the industry. He, like Ajay, has starred in a variety of films ranging from action films, to thrillers, as well as comedies. He has performed in 96 films so far, with two more set to release in 2011.
Apart from commercial films, Ajay Devgan has ventured into non-mainstream cinema like Mani Ratnam’s Yuva and Rituparno Ghosh’s Raincoat. He has also acted in other roles as a villain in Kaal and Khakee, as a freedom fighter in Bhagat Singh and in comedy films like Golmaal. These proved his versatility as an actor. He has performed in 81 films so far, with two more set to release in 2011.
Awards Won
Ajay Devgan has won two National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards in all. He won his debut award for Phool aur Kaante, and then for acting in Zakhm (1998), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Apaharan (2005), and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010). He also won awards for acting as a villain.
Akshay Kumar has won nine Filmfare awards and one Asian Film Award. He won awards as best actor, best supporting actor, and best comedian for films like Yeh Dillagi, Dil toh pagal hai, Ajnabee, Khakee etc. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
Personal Life
Akshay Kumar initially dated actresses like Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty. He eventually married actress Twinkle Khanna on January 14, 2001, the daughter of actor Rajesh Khanna and actress Dimple Kapadia. They have a son named Aarav.
Ajay Devgan married film actress Kajol on February 23, 1999. They have two children, a daughter Nysa and a son Yug. In 2009, on the request of his family, he changed the spelling of his surname from Devgan to Devgn.
