Difference between Whiteheads and Blackheads
Pimples, a teenagers worst nightmare! Pimples, are distinguished as puss filled zits on the skin, especially on one’s face. Pimples can lower self-esteem and people who suffer from pimples will often avoid social interaction. What's more disgusting than a pimple? A bloody popped pimple that is. That's why it's not always a good idea to pop them, no matter how tempted you may feel to pop them. Everybody knows what pimples are and zits, in fact pimples and zits are often interchangeable terms, however when someone mentions whiteheads or blackheads, people often become confused with these terms and not many people know the difference between them.
Why do they Appear?
Blackheads often result from clogged hair follicles, where blackheads sprout up. This is a result of the light reflecting irregularly, which results in blackheads. In white heads, the hair follicle has a tiny microscopic opening in which some air could reach and this causes the pimple to have a white head. Keep in mind that whiteheads and blackheads are both the same thing, the only difference is at the small opening in the hair follicle.
Preventing Breakouts
When it comes to preventing breakouts of whiteheads and blackheads, there's no difference in treatment for one or the other, one type of treatment can used on both kinds of pimples. Treating blackheads and whiteheads is simple process. First, one must wash their face thoroughly to maintain a clean oil free skin. One must first wash their face using warm water and then use a gentle facial cleanser, a small amount about the size of a dime would do the trick just fine. Next, apply the cleanser onto the face, using gentle circular motions. Make sure you reach every nook and cranny on your face. Finally, it’s a good idea to use an acne treating lotion after you've finished washing your face.
What Causes Breakouts?
Acne is a very common condition that affects a majority of the teenagers out there. Even adults can struggle with acne. However, acne first appears when one becomes a teenager, this is because hormones like testosterone and androgen, mixed in with oil, dirt and bacteria tend to form acne. The more sebum a person's skin produces, the more likely that person is to suffer from acne. Regardless, of popular belief that people get acne because they don't wash their faces properly, that's not true at all. Washing the face can help, but it doesn't make a significant difference.
