I only go to the movies about 4-5 times per year. I like the larger format and am willing to pay the higher price to get it. It is larger and excellent way to watch a top movie.

IMAX is too loud no matter where you sit. Definitely not worth extra money for a larger screen. Once was enough.

IMAX exaggerates any camera movement and causes motion sickness with me.

IMAX does not seem worth the extra cost.

Never really considered an IMAX experience superior, that is, without knowledge of the screen-size difference; probably out of ignorance is why I resorted to a regular theatre.

I have seen many movies recently at an AMC theater close to my area. This theater is on at least it third name since opening not that many years ago. I was really nice when it first opened, but has declined some what in recent years. Although the tickets and concessions have increased in price. They have an IMAX theater probably on the smaller size. I have seen blockbuster movies there that did not impress me like seeing movies years ago in real IMAX format. I usually chose a regular theater without 3D. From what I understand 3D is huge in China. Since most of the film industry is owned by Chinese it will be around for a long time. I have lived long enough to see this stuff come and go. I wonder how many people realize they are not seeing an IMAX movie most of the time.

Price mostly.

And at the Imax here in St. Paul (at the museum and only Imax I've ever been to) you must stare up or side to side at very weird angles. Seems uncomfortable considering the cost.

I saw IMAX for the first time at The Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa Florida, this was several years ago, and it was overwhelming; too big for proper viewing. I just went to an AMC IMAX last weekend, "The Hunger Game" was playing, and found it less than inspiring and way too costly($27.50 for two of us). I love the movies as they are shown in a theater. I find the sound is great, the clarity is great, and it offers a satisfying escape for half the price of IMAX. I'll be bypassing IMAX on my trip to the consession stand in the future. - See ya' at the movies!
