Years of experience in taking both Pepto and Imodium. Age 51 now, was originally prescribed Imodium by Gastroenterologist around age 19-20, for IBS diagnosis ~ Imodium (Loperamide) at that time was available only by prescription. It is my go to when a random bout of diarrhea strikes. Ain't nobody got time for that! IBS issues have all but disappeared ~ deal with exponentially more stress today, but my gut doesn't take it for the team any longer. Hubby went through stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis last year, removed 1/2 of colon and 7 months of chemo. 8 cycles of 2 weeks on chemo, 1 week off. By day 3-4 the chemo would cause considerable diarrhea for days. His Oncologist recommended he take Imodium to deal with the diarrhea. Worked like a champ! Pepto is a definite staple that will always have a place in my medicine cabinet though! There is a time and place for Pepto, most assuredly.
I'm allergic to aspirin so I can't take Proto Bismol or Kaopectate since the formula now matches Proto Bismol
