I had chosen this on account of past publications and revelations by the U.S. and other media. It is widely known that the US Government's secrets are being leaked, stolen or made public without serious considerations or professional information vetting while GB was successful with keeping its secrets in most secrecy.

It is from a democratic country. Not a former communist covered in secrecy!

BECAUSE THE CIA IS A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY AND IS ALSO A BETTER COUNTRY THAN RUSSIA, AND THE KGB WAS BRUTAL AND WOUL DO ANYTHING TO GET INFORMATION OR KEEP THEM SECRET THE KGB WOULD DO ANYTHING LIKE ASSASINATIONS, KIDNAPING, TOCHER, AND INTEROGATION.THE CIA WOULD MOSTLY USED PESUASONE TO GET SECRETS BUT WOULD USE A TOUGHER FORCE ONLY IF THEY REALY HAD TO, BESIDES THE CIA WAS MORE LENIENT THAN THE KGB, BUT I DO THINK LYING ABOUT SECRET MISSIONS,AND INFORMAION IS BETTER BECAUSE IT HELPS US BE MORE SAFE, BESIDES IT IS THEIRE JOB NOT YOURS SO WHY DON'T EVERYONE MIND THEIRE OWN BISSNES

They seem more open to me, and many of their secrets have been released without their intention (hackers, Assange etc.)

I believe the KGB (and now FSB) was more reserved.

The CIA has actually found enough evidence to release to the public compared to the nock off copy that is considered the KGB.

We have the freedom of information act, and as a people who insist on transparancy, and fact finding organizations such as, "Rand", to name just one. We have been orientated that we must protect freedom. We must be vigilant to our governments action and to question authority when merited!

The former Soviet Union did not have those freedoms. It's not a question that the CIA is generious with disclosure... it's a fact we the people demand the Truth and will seek out covert and clandestine activity....especially when we feel the agencies may be outside the perameters of ethics. NSA has upset the world governments and Snowden was instrumental in his ethics to unvail the current uproar around the world as well as many people here in the United States!

i am an old man, not so intelligent, but when those two spy agencies were slugging it out, it was a beautiful thing to watch and read about.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because the American people know more and demand more about their Government the russians just silence anyone who speaks out.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

In recent years a great deal of previously classified documents have been declassified by the US government and disclosed to the world. I have heard or seen only a negligible amount of documents being similarly disclosed by the Russian Government. Did the Tsar's Daughter Anastasia really survive the 1917 termination of the Russian Royal Family or was it a hoax as is popularly postulated.

Civilian run organizations reports to a a number of government officials and organizations. So in that line of thinking the CIA releases its secrets all the time, and even if those secrets weren't shared with a lot of people they were still secrets shared outside the CIA. Also under the freedom of information act those secrets will eventually be relased someday to the general public if they look for it.

KGB was not like the CIA. KGB was a little more open than the CIA, Like KGB would just walk in a store and kill their target. CIA would do something simerly but much more secretive. And KGB is not as brutal as the CIA. YES KGB was more brutal at attacks, but CIA Is just More visous. Watch CIA WAR CRIMES
