Assam got a strong flavor more dry than darjeeling which round and have a more peculiar taste to me.
Matter of taste is kinda hard to describe

Darjeeling tea could be compared to other green tea. Assam tea+ milk+ sugar is a class of its own, and is like a whole meal :)

Darjeeling tea is primarily used for flavour and is known for it's mild fragrance. Assam tea is a more robust tea primarily known for its dark amber colour. This is why lots of Indians mix Darjeeling and Assam tea to get the best of both worlds: Red Label + Green Label blends from Brooke Bond.
