To have a good imagination you need a certain amount of quiet time to let go of the world demands and see the possibilities in our world and beyond. I find that I have a happier life if I slow down and enjoy my own thoughts.

To me creativity is the assembling of information to postulate the probable. Imagination is the assembling of information to postulate the possible.

I suppose, we can't implement an idea that doesn't exist! As much as creativity is valuable, imagination is the beginning.

With imagination to use humans can be eternally happy even if every thing wrong is happening to them. You can imagine a wonderful feast with turkey and mashed potatoes, even if you are on the verge of starvation, but it will probably make you happy before reality kicks in. Creativity is a nice way to express how you are feeling and feel good about yourself after, but it won't create a knight on a white horse to come save you.

I beleive imagination because much of life is just an illusion, or all in how you percieve things. If I have the ability to imagine all things are possible and I have the strength to get through anything, my chances of succeding are much higher than the person walking around beleiving the odds are against them.

With inmagination you do not need stndards, process or anything to have an outcome or product. All you have to do to have what you want is, to close your eyes and dream. With imagination, you can create whatever you like.

I am 19 and have recently come up with an idea I am currently working on patenting. I believe it will be integral in the future of medicine, specifically minimally invasive surgery which is the future of medicine. Both my parents are doctors which is how i was exposed to such things to begin with. I spent months coming up with the idea. Over those months I was obsessed with a concept. I imagined a perfect solution to a problem. 5 months after my tiring mental journey started the answer came to me in my sleep as if it had been there all along in my subconscious. Imagination took me on this ridiculous mental journey. A few days after the solution came to me in my sleep I remembered dreaming about being in a Zen garden for years meditating on my imagined concept and then seeing the perfect solution I had been imagining for so long appear in the Zen garden in my dream. The whole thing is so crazy but imagination is definitely the key. I don't think many people can claim to have experienced an experience of pure imagination as I have. My imagination has literally changed the course of my life. I came to this article after google searching "creativity vs imagination" after drawing my design concept and writing "creativity vs. imagination" at the top of the page then circling imagination. I am bipolar so I can't always explain why I do what I do or even what I was thinking at the time, it just happens. All I know is after I finished my design I wrote at the top of the page "creativity vs. imagination" and then i circled imagination. That was before I ever read this article.

Without being able to escape into our own memories and thoughts, we would hardly be able to communicate, let alone make ourselves happy. Whether we're artists or business executives, we use our imaginations - be it seeing in your mind a work of art, or remembering good times with your friends, you shall be using it. Memories are vital to life. Without them, life is hardly worth living. We build our memories, and reflect and enjoy them with our imaginations.

Not anybody can own creativity, because it requires lots of practice ability, so not everyone wants to do this kind of thing. Differently, people prefer to imagine which is easier and more interesting. Imagination will include more new ideas, which could inspire people to put into practice.

Without imagination we wouldn't be able to dream, and without a dream, what would would we have worth living for?
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Imagination means seeing with your mind things others don't, whether they are abstract concepts or concrete objects. Imagination is an intelligent form of dreaming, it gives your life meaning, it keeps your brain preoccupied. It is also boundaryless - you can do it (even in prison – there are political prisoners in the Gulag who kept their sanity through imagination) , under any circumstances and no-one can take it away from you.
With creativity you may be limited by practicality. There almost always is a solution when you are asking the right questions, however there is also timing and technology. :(

A more people are creative, but may not have enough imagination for full potential. That's how art remakes came about. Too much creativity, too little imagination.

While imagination is probably tied to hope and optimism, it's the application of those belief systems that makes most people happy.

Ditto for art, music, literature, etc.

Beliefs are great. Behaviors are what truly affect us, however.

Creativity is the act of doing something. I believe in order to be creative, you have to have some form of imagination or visualization on what you are trying to create. For example, I am an Engineer. As a young kid, I dreamt or fantasized or imagined possibilities of how the Universe works. Now I am an adult. And because I went to school, not only has my imagination and visualization improved, but now I have the skills necessary to make them a reality. I can create logical thoughts to that imagination. Of course as an adult, I realize that some stuff may not be possible, but that's where my imagination comes in. And if I can't build it, I write a short story or novel about. My imagination is coming out somehow and I will find a creative way to get it out into the world.

Creativity builds upon imagination and language as ways of gaining knowledge. Human beings are naturally inclined to share their lives with other people. Without creativity imagination cannot be effectively shared. Even though imagination is the root of creativity, creativity remains more impacting in certain areas of knowledge.

because it gives room to see that you can take an old rag, a needle, and thread, and turn it into a skirt that you can label with your name. It provides room for expression of thought, and individualism.

While imagination is mainly used by a single individual and usually can make one person very happy. Since you can basically do whatever YOU want with a good imagination, that does not help the rest of humanity. With creativity you can turn basic problems for mankind that were inhibiting happiness; such as curing diseases and creating controlled environments, this allows humans to gain happiness without anything blocking the way without fear of death, outside threats, etc. However without a good imagination many of the made with creativity would also not be possible. You have to be able to imagine what could happen if I did this or made that; would it really solve anything? Overall both imagination and creativity are very important things for mankind, but creativity is the overall more practical one for the advancement of the population rather than the individual.

If someone has a great intelligence, but no way to express these thoughts, it can only become frustrating. If a person has little imagination, but many ideas on how to express those thoughts, they feel a sense of achievment and consequently, happiness.
