Kamal Haasan is one of the most popular method actors in India. Besides acting he has also worked as a producer, director, screen writer, song writer and playback singer. He has been given the title of Ulaga Nayagan (universal hero). Kamal owns a film production company that goes by the name of Rajkamal International. Rajinikanth on the other hand is commonly referred to as the Superstar of Tamil cinema. He is a philanthropist and is also influential in the government of Tamil Nadu. No doubt he is one of the most popular people in South Asia.

Background

Kamal Haasan was born in Paramakudi village of Tamil Nadu. He has two elder brothers Charuhaasan and Chandra Haasan. Charuhaasan has also won a National Film Award. Kamal was born in a Hindu Brahmin family but declared himself as an atheist. Kamal was named after Yakoob Hassan who helped Kamal’s father (a freedom fighter) in jail by helping him with prisoners who hated Hindus. Rajinikanth was born on December 12, 1949 in Bangalore. His family wasn't financially secure and his childhood was full of struggle. He worked as a coolie and bus conductor. He had his higher education in the Ramakrishna Mission.        

Career

Kamal Haasan made his debut as a child artist when he was 4. He won maximum number of awards in the 1980’s and gained widespread popularity. He directed Hey Ram in 2000 and played ten different roles in a single film – Dasavathaaram (2008).  

Rajinikanth has acted in more than 150 films. He became much more popular in the South as compared to the Mumbai based Bollywood industry. He appeared in several Hindi films such as Andha Kaanoon, Chaalbaaz, Uttar Dakshin and Giraftaar, and even had a supporting role in Bloodstone, an American film. His movies dubbed in Japanese made him famous in the Japanese film industry. It is interesting to note that he has not acted in any Marathi film even though Marathi is his first language.

Awards

Kamal Haasan is famous for holding the highest number of awards in the history of Indian cinema. He has won nineteen Filmfare awards, four National Film awards, three awards for best actor and one for best child artist. He is a Padma Shri Award winner. His belt is also decorated with Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, Nandi Awards and Vijay Awards.

Rajinikanth has won several Filmfare awards. He is honoured with the Kalaimamani award, Kalaichelvam award, Raj Kapoor award, Sivaji Ganesan award and many more. He was given India’s third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan in 2000.

kaqmal don't act nosensence like rajani and his communication in english is better than rajani or any tamil actor. he is the real thalaivar of tamil cinema
