I have multiple disc bulges and herniated discs as well....I live with these conditions daily!

Because it irritates the nerves sometimes and other times it does not. And it is not severe enough to undergo serious surgery to repair. Probably could be ailed with yoga and massage but, mild treatments require more patience and more annoyance.

Because the pain doesn't stop. Any pressure make it hit the nerve. And most surgeons won't fix it. They say it isn't bad enough ! Although it is like a tooth ache . Won't stop till it is fixed!

The pain is very bad most of the time, healing time is very slow , I have been in pain for 4 months now, I did get a lumbar epidural steroid injection 5 days ago and no change .Keep getting told since I fell 4 months It takes time,
I believe this is most annoying because it is considered mild and not pressing on any spinal cord nerves. Therefore it is taken very lightly by doctors to diagnose this or see the MRIs in this condition But as we all know even a bulging disc can cause nerve damage and other surrounding nerves that might not be able to be picked up by an MRI. This leads to differing diagnoses and differing subjective thoughts about the person who has this condition. On the other hand I herniated or ruptured disc is easily seem to be pressing on the spinal cord and or the contents of the inner desk to be spilled out into the extracellular space of the spinal column. It's much easier to.nails and to see on an MRI and therefore surgery is supposed to Easley correct it. Unfortunately the person with the bulging disc can be in much more severe pain then a person with a herniated desk because of the other nerves that are being affected and not considered eminent danger or severe.

Have dealt with this and at times it is unbearable. Can just be walking and the pain will shoot down you legs and buckle your knees. Constant pain that at times will not allow you to sleep. I have had to sleep in my recliner just so I could get up easier. At times it took me 30 minutes to get in and out of bed. I would also sleep with 2 pillows under my hamstrings as close to the buttocks area and 2 more at my feet to get pressure off of it. I had also slept on the living floor with my legs up in the seat of the couch with my butt as close to the couch as I could get it. It just down right sucks at times you cant stand up straight because it puts pressure on that nerve and sends you to your knees so you stay slumped over. The only problem with the slumping is it can change you center of gravity so they encourage you to get to getting back up straight. I literally couldn't take steps of more than 6 inches to 12 inches or the nerve would pinch and send me to my knees. What made it even worse for me was I had went to a hospital twice and they told me that it was just my muscles being to tense and that I needed to stretch and get them to relax that them being that tense was causing them to pinch the nerve well I also had a compression fracture had they had done an MRI they'd have seen that as well. The stretching only made it worse for me and made my pain level higher. The muscles were so tense because of me having to slump over to walk. I feel you pain if you are going through this it sucks and I know what you are going through and wish you the best.

Ruptured Disc - 18

Because I have had all the ruptured disc symptoms now for 9 months and my drs. just keep saying after looking at my MRI that it's just a bulge. I have had three PT therapy cessions and it makes it worse. And all they keep doing is giving me more pain/muscle meds. that DON'T work. Now they have me in a back brace for 2 months and that makes it worse too. Just very frustrated!

I has the same issues has a herniated disc however is caused by trama which means there could be associated pain or injury around the area.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
rebecause it spreads the solutuion inside the area which interreacts causing painful irritartation on nerves.

Because it causes the rupture disk to press on the nerve which leads to lots of pain.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Been there- lived it!! It HURT!!
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I’ve had all three and the rupture was the worst.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I've had 3 lower back surgeries so far and will have fusion soon at L5-S1. Each rupture has produced different levels of pain, but each has hurt very much and essentially curtailed any activity. Not able to find any pain-free position. Not able to sleep except for very short periods.
