It has users to choose which one is the best unlike Rotten Tomatoes. A particular individual may like the movie and another maynot like the same. Then what about rating by particular people from big publication houses. Let the movie buffs rate the movies.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I have more respect for the reviews of the general public, not some film critic who decided an action film was terrible because it had too much action, or some comedy wasn't funny because it didn't have enough drama in it. I want a review from a person like me, who thinks like I do. Every review is special to that persons interests, so when I read a review from some critic it really isn't anything special to me.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The main issue in this case is not a matter of why IMDB is better, but why Rotten Tomatoes is worse. The pre-reviews (those that appear on movie 2-3 weeks before their release) always set the tone of the main reviewers - who seem more likely to jump on the bandwagon than write their actual thoughts. The system, assigning a rating based on the number of people that giving the movie a passing grade is rediculus and leads to movies appearing to have rating far higher or lower than they actually should. Ie: everyone thinks a movie a 60% quality movie, therefore it gets a 100% rating. This applies on both ends of the extreme.

I believe IMDB is better only because I'd rather know what the average user feels about a review than a film critic.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Movies are made for the viewing public. That's who pays money to go see them. I care if it was entertaining and enjoyable and so do most who rate movies on IMDB. A critic's idea of a good movie is often VERY different than your average Joe's idea of a good movie. So Rotten Tomatoes, which relies heavily on critics for input, generally misses the mark and often underrates a good movie.

Rotten Tomatoes is just too negative, IMDB gives a better rating overall and lets you check what demographic liked a movie also.

IMDB is the best because it is built for users, because exist a lively community around it...

IMDb shows the information of the movies of all around the world. I can easily know about a movie which is not in my native language from there but Rotten Tomatoes doesn't have that for all the movies. That keeps IMDb ahead of Rotten Tomatoes to me.

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because they have a splendid Movie summary review, in 2 sentences you get an idea of the how good the movie is. Because Rotten Tomatoes two different ratings, one for the critis and one for the users. Becase of this, you can get an overall better picture on if you like the movie or not, because a bad rated movie could have high user reviews and thus being good afteral. I also like Rotten Tomates actor pages, since when clicking on an actor, you get a list of all the movies the actor have played in, BUT, with the film ratings besides the movie title, on IMDB, you need to click onto that movie to actually see the ratings.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The main reason I think Rotten Tomatoes is better is because I feel it offers more opinions on every movie. IMDb doesn't review films very well, and reviews are what I'm after, whereas Rotten Tomatoes has reviews galore!!
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Imdb data is "polluted" by spam from fanboys; and typically extremely polarized reviews - either 0 or 10. I also trust film critics to give more unbiased reviews as opposed to user reviews; where mainstream movies get too much recognition.

Reliability, dependability, and credibility. Apart from critics, users are also allowed to submit reviews, rate the movies, and offer feedback, and the comment section is often very resourceful as well.

The Tomatometer helps me to decide easily which movies to watch!
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
It shows the professional score for the movie, and the audiences. To be honest id rather see the professional insight than someone else, that is why Rotten Tomatoes is far superior to imbd.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I trust professionals more. It has happened more than once that I found reviews on Imdb to be misleading.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

Because it shows the likelihood that a film will be good, not changed by a slight score change like the IMDb rating would be.
