Socialism - 29

because of great diversity the other economic systems can not prevail.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
many versions of socialism; government control of major utilities, etc

Although most countries profess one or the other,if you stay informed you see that there are millions of people in most any country that are getting a "fair share" while doing nothing more than being born.

That is why the United States (which I am a proud citizen of) is in the situation it is now. Not because we spend but because we are raising generations of children with the entitlement mentality of socialism.

Because as long as the powerful are in charge, nothing is impossible. The few in charge have the hard workers covering for the lazy and everybody looks good and in control. It's a gateway to communism and the supposed answer to capitalism....especially if you ask some young, lazy, feeling sorry for himself American who would rather carry a sign tham fix a problem. Something for nothing is the answer. Penalize the hard worker for his success and eat from his garden for free.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Because most of the world has succumbed to watered down communism.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
It appears that most systems use socialism as a basis.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
because most countries government regulate industry as opposed to allowing the free market to establish what gets manufactured--and it creates a equal playing field for all workers

Because Even the most basic government programs for the people are socialistic (It is present in virtually every government except Somalia). There are different Versions of Socialism, from guided capitalism (few, but some very practical socialistic institutions) to Social Democracy (A full welfare system that ensures everyone has basic income security, access to free health care, free education-including college, A civil security force aka police, maintained cities, etc). There are also extra benefits for funding science and technology programs to further advance society and to help the economy flourish in the future. Another very useful benefit is that Taxes can also be used to tackle huge problems, such as the environment, energy, etc.

Ultimately people should be happy to pay taxes, because taxes Ultimately allow society to complete it's purpose (Assuming they are used properly) - benefit the people that make up the society as much as possible. What point is there in a society that produces no benefit? It should always be about maximizing benefit as much as possible, not keeping it artificially low. Socialist welfare institutions are an absolute guarantee to all the benefits that a society should inherently provide as a fundamental human right.

2008 economic crash proved that when capitalism fails its social governments that seem to bail out the capitalist. Print more money for them to speculate with and offer them cheaper money with low interest rates.

Taxation on everything. President wants to change taking from those that put themselves at risk, to give to those who risk nothing. Most of the European countries are already there. The U.S. is on it way

Socialism leads to Communism. I don't mind rich people being rich. Europe is NOW suffering because they have ignorantly embraced socialism. Government is never good enough to make anything right.. because people who do not have, want what you have.. OR they want you to be a poor as them.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
it just does :)

Just examine taxes (how are collected and used by government) and the United Nations (with all its social programs and how it sets standards, etc.)
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Socialism has a political correctness to it. In today's world, everyone wants to be equal and feel as though everyone has opportunity. What they fail to realize is this system eventually becomes communism as the government slowly acquires the money and property.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Government intervention in market economies is the most prevalent form of economic policy. While markets (to an extent) lie at the centre of the economy, there is significant distortionary policy enacted at the political level to deliver outcomes or mould behaviour of the populous that the presiding political power sees as desirable. Although in a market economy all citizens have the opportunity to prosper, in a socialist economy those who choose not to contribute to Society are rewarded through the Welfare State, of which is a common factor within modern global developed economies.

AMERICA IS THE ANSWER OF ALL QUESTIONS..........
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
There are a couple of multinationals that are setting the prescribed market prices that determine the income and minute profit that the rest of the world gets......This thus puts the proletariat inevitably in the exploited bracket for they are not able to set their own value, for their own labor, if they are independently producing goods their own produce price is not determined by themselves [basing on the amount of labor they have put in, the years of labor and capital burning and the simple right to actually value your own produce.

While Communism was effective in taking Russia out of the archaic Tsar monarchy era into the industrial age after WWI, as well as rebuilding war-torn East Germany after WWII, it proved to be an unsustainable system. Almost all communist economies have either destroyed themselves (like Soviet Union), are on life support (like North Korea), or have largely transformed into a mixed economy with capitalistic values (like the People's Republic of China). For a general example why Capitalism prevails over command economies, look at Chinese economic and industrial growth over the last 25 years.

profit over people - money decides everything
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Simply because that is what is happening, China itself follows suit certain principles. Having said that though both in capitalism and communism the money is in the hands of very few, with everyone else in poverty or barely surviving. I think countries like the ones in Scandinavia are fairly good systems as compared to the rest of the world.

Only five remaining communistic countries. Plus the UN has a ton of people in that big ol' room.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Very few countries are socialist or communist in their true meaning - we can see North Korea for example as being "communist" but the truth is that Kim Jong Un probably won't fight for a classless and stateless society (if he did then there would be no government in North Korea and the workers would own the products of their labour - as opposed to government owning it)

No what exists today would be mostly neo-conservative/neo-liberal which I feel are not going to remain so for long. They will probably just decay further into fascism.

Whoever has the most money, controls the most resources. Whoever controls the resources (food, oil, trade, currency, the military) will have the best fed and trained military, which gives financial and physical power.

Capitalism works. No other system matches it. Free enterprise and private property stand out as remarkable factors. The problem with socialism, as Margaret Thatcher stated was that "eventually, you run out of other people's money!" Let's see, Russia has been communistic while **** Germany was a dictatorship with socialism and China has been communistic with a heavy governmental rule. Hong Kong is a perfect example where communism was, capitalism now is and let see, which one has done better. I think all scales would tip toward capitalism!!!

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The incentive to be more productive is how the system becomes superior. Although the rich do get richer, the poor are able to work their way up by being inventive and productive. Socialism/Communism allows a segment of the populace to get by despite their unproductiveness. Governments become larger, more inefficient and prone to cronyism.

Capitalism is the only economic system where (if unimpeded and implemented properly) the market will autocorrect itself... meaning goods cost what they are truly worth, companies are valued at what they are worth, workers are paid what they are worth. Yes, we all know it's not perfect, but it is far better than socialism or communism where an elitist government makes all the choices and heavily regulates the markets and workplace. I enjoy things like property ownership, opportunity to start my own business, paying only what something is worth, being rewarded for my hard work, and the ability to negotiate my pay. Compare the average citizen in places such as China, Russia, Cuba, or Venezuela to the average American citizen... enough said. Capitalism has amazing potential. But it is dependent on a well-informed and moral society to keep it in check. Society HAS TO monitor it and react to the markets and punish unethical companies and players.
