NATIVE AMERICANS, PARTICULARLY MESOAMERICANS, CONCENTRATED THEIR EFFORTS TO SHEER SURVIVAL SO UNDERSTANDING THE SEASONS BECOME OPTIMALLY IMPORTANT, THUS, OBSERVATION,EXPERIMENTATION AND STUDIOUSNESS RESULTED EVENTUALLY IN DEVLOPING THEIR CALENDRICAL SYSTEMS. UNLIKE EUROPEANS WHO CONCENTRATED ON CONQUEST OF OTHER PEOPLE'S, ULTIMATELY, LED TO USE OF "TIME" AS WASTEFUL, NOT EMPLOYED FOR CONTINUATION AND PRESERVATION OF CIVILIZATION. THEY DID INVENT A FEW THINGS, BUT NOT LIKE THE MAYA,WHO CONCENTRATED ON UNDERSTANDING THE UNIVERSE AND LEARNING HOW TO LIVE WITH IT!

  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
Mayan was more concerned with the natural essence of life giving forces. Whereas the Gregroian calendar was chosen as a best fit for what worked for mans agenda
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
They created their calendar from the very olds times but the Gregorian calendar was created today, therefore the Mayan calendar should be more accurate with their superior math.

the Mayan calender was created much longer before the gregoian calender, and the Mayan calender marks a new age and the gregoian calender does not
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
it works.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I have selected this option because In the Gregorian calendar, one year has an average length of about 365.2425 days, and there is a variation of .0003. In comparison, the Mayan calendar has an average length of about 365.2420 days and a variation of .0002. So the Mayan calender is more accurate than the Gregorian Calender.

It's a much older calendar deeply rooted in a true study of the stars over thousands of years. It takes into acount the study of the universe by todays view things were still trying to comprehend in such a technological age and the mayans, ancient egyptians and others all seemed to come to the same conclusion in a time we consider primitve to today. But in fact it's hard to dispute at least 3 different races in at least 3 different parts of the world all having calendars that end at the same time.

no leap year needed to mach the solar cycle
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
This calendar actually is based off the sun, the moon, and was is going on over time. The gregorian calendar is based off of day and night by a pope. -____________________-

No leap seconds or any thing else to keep it on track, and it is still accurate today.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
The Mayan calendar is more accurate than the Gregorian because the (mean) Solar year is 365.242198 (or 365.2422) days.

Therefore:

Gregorian: 365.2425 - 365.2422 = 0.0000302 days longer
Mayan : 365.2420 - 365.2422 = 0.0001987812 days shorter
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
I say this because the numbers do not correspond to the months for example oct. is the tenth month and we all know that oct. means eight.

Because there is only a 17 seconds error compared to the Gregorian calendar which has a 6 hours error.
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago
We r not even for certain that we know how to read the Mayans calendar therefore how do we know then If we read their calendar with out knowing exactly how they based the conclusion that the Gregorian calendar is correct?
  • Anonymous . 3+ yrs. ago

The calendar fallows the constellations in which we become visible in the night sky or the constellation of the celestials beings to which we were bred with (on the sole permission of the Creator of whom we of the some fifteen million different beings in the universe ),created all by the one Creator whom gave us his likeness or made in his image. We are the only ones in the Celestial Kingdom (universe) made in the Creator's Image. All the beings in the CK know this they too all have the same one Creator of all ,and find it difficult to understand why should they believe in one whom does not possess the likeness of themselves.throughout this great kingdom all know of us and come to see if we are gods ,only because we have his likeness ,the beings we were bred along with have the capacity for our feelings or our entity ,power ,influence ,relation or our
compassion and nature of internal cause ,latent effect, manifest effect and their consistency from beginning to end which tells you that we are the only beings that die. So from the perspective of those of whom we were Inbred with see our planet in this cycle.
